The Process Explained
Generally people start with a name, a domain name.
Go to GoDaddy.com and try out various .com names. Artists would do well to use their full name or nickname, possibly adding a word like "studios." An example: "www.PabloPicassoStudios.com" Small businesses might have a harder time. So many names have been claimed that your exact business name might be taken. Don't worry. Your domain name doesn't have to match exactly. You might add a location name or initials to your business name. You might add a fun little description. Examples: www.HardingHardwareUpNorth.com. TheEatingPlaceNYC.com. |
It is recommended to grab a ".com" if possible. Next in line would be ".net."
These are the suffixes folks are most familiar with. But if you're confident in your marketing and like something else: .info, .org, .us... don't let me stop you. You purchase the rights to a domain name in yearly increments from a company like GoDaddy.com. Costs should be in the $12.99/yr. ballpark.
Hosting a website is the next part of the process. Box of Sparks will host your site for $8 a month.
Once you have a domain name and a place to put your website you need a website. I can create a good-looking site that fulfills your business needs for a reasonable rate. After the website has been created you will have the ability to make changes to images and text yourself. I'll show you how.
